Laura Peete

Laura Nan Peete is the Foundation Director of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), where she leads national programs dedicated to advancing the work of stage directors and choreographers. With more than a decade of experience in regional and professional theatre, she previously served as Associate Artistic Director and Casting Director at Theatre Under The Stars (Houston) and as Director of Education at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (Orlando).

She has established and managed national partnerships with industry-leading organizations including The Broadway League, Broadway Across America, Disney Theatrical Group, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and has served on multiple committees for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT). As a line producer, Laura has overseen multi-million-dollar theatrical productions—stewarding budgets exceeding $10 million—managing artistic and production teams, union relations, and interdepartmental collaboration to drive both revenue and artistic excellence.

Mentorship has long been central to Laura’s practice. She has trained pre-professional performers through the TUTS Pre-Professional Company, directed the TUTS Texas High School All-State Musical, and launched the TUTS High School New Works Series, creating innovative pathways for playwrights to workshop original work in preparation for their next phase in their development.

Laura holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Millikin University.
